How to meditate?
Meditation is something that can be done all day during all our activities. But to learn and practice meditation, it is better to take some time for it so you can really focus on it. All you need is some room in which you will not be disturbed and some time.
Meditation is done best in an upright position. If it is physically possible you can sit on the floor with the legs crossed in front of you. This is the most stable position, but it is not necessarily perse, so only do this if your body allows you to. You can also sit on a chair. It is best if the spine is in a vertical line from the sitting bones to the crown of the head. This makes an aware/ consciousness position. The hands can be placed on the knees and the eye not fully open and not fully closed; you want to be relaxed but not sleepy.
The point of focus in meditation plays an important part of it. There are several ways to do it and there are more advanced ways, but the best or most realistic way is probably to focus on your own breathing. Your breathing is always there in the moment itself and it has a calm effect from itself already. One of the ways to incorporate the breathing into the meditation is to simply count the breathing. Every inhale counts for one and every exhale counts for one and this way you can count till 10. When you have reached 10 (5 inhales and 5 exhales) you start again at 1, so that the counting needs some awareness too. Sometimes you will notice you are at 11 or even further and this is not a problem. Just start again at 1 as soon as you notice.
Above is just some basic knowledge about meditation. Now you can join one of the sessions and learn it in practice.
